Melbourne was the first stop on our six-week East Coast tour of Australia and what a way to start! From bustling markets and leafy green parks to waddling penguins and golden sandy beaches, Melbourne truly has it all.

We stayed with friends in St Kilda, a charming neighborhood full of character, who gave us all the insider insight into exploring beyond the usual tourist spots.

Hosier Lane Street Art
A laneway of ever-changing graffiti and murals, Hosier Lane is Melbourne’s most celebrated street art destination. Over the years, it has even featured a piece by Banksy!

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)
 Australia’s oldest and most visited gallery. It’s perfect for escaping the scorching heat or keeping busy on a rainy day, with a huge variety of exhibitions and collections.

Collins Street Precinct
Known locally as the “Paris End,” this elegant street is lined with historic architecture, luxury boutiques, and classic cafés, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll.

State Library of Victoria
This incredible library is worth visiting for its stunning architecture, especially the La Trobe Reading Room. They also host free exhibitions, classes, and workshops.

Shrine of Remembrance
A powerful memorial that offers panoramic views over Melbourne, particularly breathtaking at sunset. It’s both a place of reflection and a great vantage point for photography.
